The director and writer of Akelarre, Pablo Agüero said: “The film is the result of a long investigation. From Pierre de Rosteguy de Lancre's book, which portrayed the witch as a revolutionary woman, I began to arrive at the unique history of the Basque people, who, unlike the Bretons or Cathars.
