File 81 is the new Netflix series thriller based on a horror podcast executive produced by Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Boys) and James Wan (The Conjuring). Premiere on Netflix on January 14.
File 81 tells the story of archivist Dan Turner, who agrees to restore some video tapes recorded in 1994. In doing so, he reconstructs the work of documentary filmmaker Melody Pendras and immerses himself in his investigation of a dangerous cult in the Visser building. As the season progresses through these two timelines, Dan becomes obsessed with figuring out what happened to Melody. The two characters form a mysterious connection, and Dan becomes convinced he can rescue her from the horrific end she met 25 years ago.
